S'Mores
for Labradors - August 10, 2006
Here's
a great card we received from one of our past Labrador adopation
family. Madelyn and her family adopted Buddy now called "Moose"
last year.
This
year for Madelyn's Birthday, she wanted to say Thank You, and help
out any way she could. We would in return, like to extend our Thanks
for such a generous, heart-felt donation. Thanks again, and HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!!!!

Rescue
For Life: Labrador Retriever Rescue a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization,
based in Orange County, NY, places Labrador Retrievers in permanent,
loving homes when their present owners can no longer keep them.
In
March 2006, Brandy a female chocolate Labrador, surrendered to the
rescue found a permanent home with five residents at The Center
for Discovery's Stonewall Preserve located in Hurleyville, New York.
Stonewall Preserve is the Centers new livestock and crop production
farm that provides a meaningful work environment for adults with
autism.
The Center for Discovery contacted Rescue for Life looking for a
solid loving lab to adopt as a companionship for the five residents.
Since Brandy’s former owners were no longer able to care for
her, the timing of her surrender in to the rescue was perfect for
what the center was looking for. Brandy spent a trial weekend at
Stonewall Preserve and bond with the five residents and staff members.
They took immediately to Brandy as she did them, turning the rescue
effort into a perfect union.
The residents and staff are all very pleased and happy with Brandy
and very thankful for their new companion given to them by Rescue
for Life. The rescue also donated food and toys to the center to
get Brandy off to the right start in her new forever home. Now,
Brandy is receiving the love and the companionship she deserves
as well as providing a lifetime of joy to everyone at Stonewall
Preserve.
In response to a successful Labrador rescue, Rescue for Life is
looking to expand its program to include companion and service dogs.

Next Adoption Day - TBD
Rescue
For Life: Labrador Retriever Rescue is proud and happy
to be able to hold Adoption Days and Meet & Greet events at
Gander Mtn. in Middletown, NY. Last Fall was our first official
Adoption Weekend and we just had another successful Adoption Day
on March 26, 2005. We had raffles, dog biscuits and of course Labs!
At our upcoming Meet & Greet we will have an Obedience Training
demonstration as well as a First Aid demo. Approved adoptees* had
the opportunity to meet some of the dogs we had available and complete
their adoptions. New families interested in adopting had the opportunity
to fill out our adoption application and be put on our list for
current and future Labs in our rescue. It was a wonderful weekend
and we are looking forward to our next Adoption Day.
*These adoptees have been approved by the Board of Directors
and have had references checked.
