Adoption
For
as many different people in this world, there are different dogs.
RFLLRR tries very hard to match adopters with a dog that will suit
their environment. We try to match based on lifestyle and temperament
rather than your preference regarding color, age and sex.
If
you are interested in Adopting please complete the adoption application
as accurately as possible so that Rescue For Life: Labrador
Retriever Rescue can match you with possible adoptees.

Surrender
Your
Labrador Retriever deserves a new loving home. For whatever the
reason you are looking into surrendering your pet, rest assured
that we will do all we can to find the perfect family. The following
information will explain the process our volunteers will take to
place your dog in an appropriate home.
We will ask you to fill out the Surrender Information below. This
provides us with all the necessary information about your dog. Please
feel free to provide any special toys, or comfort objects your dog
has become accustomed to. A donation will be welcomed if you would
like to contribute to this valuable program!
Your dog will then be fostered at a volunteer's home for several
days. They will be assessing your dogs behavioral, and personality
traits. We do not arrange for adoption of Labs that are either dog-aggressive
or people-aggressive. Observations made will be used to decide if
the dog is suitable for adoption, and will help identify the most
suitable new owners.
If accepted into the rescue program your Lab will be cared for in
a volunteer foster home until an adoption can be arranged. Your
dog will be place on our adoption list, and matched to an approved
new owner who can provide a safe, loving home. Potential owners
are screened by the RFLLRR for suitability to adopt a dog prior
to being placed on the approved new owner list. New owners sign
an adoption contract which covers such things as the standard of
care expected, and pay an adoption fee which helps cover veterinary
expenses, and administration costs of the program. The dog can be
reclaimed by the Rescue For Life: Labrador Retriever Rescue
if any conditions of the contract are breached.
Volunteers will follow-up after the adoption process to ensure that
there is a suitable match between the new owner and dog, and that
the dog is being well cared for. Remember our primary concern is
the well being, and happiness of the Lab!
The length of time it takes for a Lab to be adopted depends on a
number of factors including: the number of approved new owners,
and dogs on our lists, the age, sex, and colour of the dog, the
dogs temperament, level of training, and the time of the year. Volunteers
will take all available measures to facilitate the permanent placement
of the dog in a suitable, stable home as soon as possible. It is
hoped that this information will make the decision to adopt out
your Lab a little easier. Please rest assured that this organization
is committed to the well-being of Labrador Retrievers, and is staffed
by volunteers that have a true love of the breed.
